学_____语技巧

1 网搜“_______语入门”, “会话基础” ,在头一个月,每周坚持看______课这类视频。

2 认为可开第二步,才开始:

a 每周至少用_____天浏览______语 维基百科 上至少几篇有关你所喜欢知识内容的文

b 开一笔记本,叫______语日记。里面可以写:

- 我的四十多题创意日记题;

One: 维基百科:

Archive on Wikipedia dot Org

Archive on National Geographic

Two 国家地理杂志:

1st:

2nd:

3rd: You find categories

4th: You find albums

5: Finally, you find an example of a PHOTO CAPTION that is 20-40 words.

Write it down!

http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2013/08/serengeti-lions/nichols-photography#/02-vumbi-cubs-wildebeest-feast-670.jpg

THREE: Smithsonian 杂志:

My recommendation: Read 1-7 Wikipedia articles or National Geographic photo captions per week, even though you only need to write one English Diary entry per week. 我的建议:每周读1-7篇 维基百科里的词条文或国家地理图片短说明,虽然你们每周只需写一篇日记(抄国家地理,维基学后感也属于“日记”之列)。 Wikipedia

  •  You are WORKING as a reporter.

  •  There are four news channels in the class.

  •  In each news channel, each reporter takes turn to run to the blackboard to read Wikinews, and run back to report to other groupmates. English only! You'll be considered cheating if you use Chinese.

  •  Groupmates: Listen and write down each news quickly.

  •  And then as a group, report news headlines your group has written down.

  •  A really good headline gets two points.
  •  An OK headline gets one point.
  •  A comment (I think, I know...) on a headline gets one point.
  •  A bad headline or comment gets 0 point.

  •  Winning group will get dollars

  •  working with your groupmates, you need to read QQ group forum "Magazines/Newspapers/Sites to read" to prepare more news comments (I think, I know) for the news headlines you read from Wiki News.

There is a last minute rule change in Reporting: One group is only allowed to have ONE professional reporter that runs back and forth to report to the group. The rest of the group are News Broadcasters. Professional news reporters don't do News Broadcast. Broadcasters do broadcast to the class.How to cheat: all group members, before class, please all go on QQ group website, in 群论坛,read a post called: Magazines/Newspapers/Sites to read, posted on  , and find news headlines there.How to cheat2: all group members, before class, go on en.wikipedia.org

"Pronunciation Workshop"

http://www.andykrieger.com/app/download/5992102204/book_sample.pdf

The first thing you need to know is that in your own language you are usually a very fast speaker. When I

do private classes with students I have them speak a few sentences in their own language and we both

realize that he or she is speaking very fast. AT NO TIME do you ever speak slowly enough to use any

TONGUE OR LIP POSITIONS in your language.

In his new way of saying words YOU NEED TO SPEAK MUCH MORE SLOWLY to give yourself

time to get into THE 10 ALPHABET POSITONS.

http://www.testden.com/accent-reduction/andykrieger.htm

one should speak as slowly as he or she can which can give him or her enough time to think and to put his or her tongue in the right position in order to pronounce right and besides, one should say 2 to 3 words at a time with the help of one hand, thus he or she could get a proper rhythm."

http://www.testden.com/ES/accent-reduction/testimonials.htm

Only in three hours time you are giving a complete package of accent reduction. It teaches how and where to place lips and tongue, how to take breath after making a pause and when to release it in pronouncing a word with the help of hand movement then indicating five stages of accent, nine groups of words and some other related things.

http://www.andykrieger.com/speaking-effectively/

I taught my students to SPEAK MORE SLOWLY

That gives you time to PUT YOUR TONGUE AND LIPS INTO CERTAIN EXACT DIGITAL POSITIONS

Then you will make ever word have a LONG VOWEL

These long vowels give the speaker INTONATION, POWER, ELEGANCE, MAJESTY (all the traits that Ed and the President have).

Popular American Names

Popular American given names doesn't just came from the English language itself. Some common given name origins are: Hebrew, French, Spanish, Italian, Latin, Greek, Irish Gaelic and Old English. However, names from "uncommon" origin such as Arabic, may be popular.

Use one "behindthename" site, and two other sites from below, pick TWO popular English/American names of "common" origins, and TWO popular English/American names of "uncommon" origins. Write down their "descriptions of origin".

Given Name JOCELYN

Meaning & History

From a Germanic masculine name, variously written as GaudelenusGautselinGauzlin, along with many other spellings. It was derived from the Germanic element Gaut, which was from the name of the Germanic tribe the Gauts, combined with a Latin diminutive suffix. The Normans brought this name to England in the form Goscelin orJoscelin, and it was common until the 14th century. It was revived in the 20th century primarily as a feminine name, perhaps an adaptation of the surname Jocelyn (a medieval derivative of the given name). In France this is a masculine name only.

13. M) Create a “flash-card” to learn new idioms.Edit

Andy Krieger is a system of accent correction methods. It's most effective when practiced with SLANGS and IDIOMS.

13. M) Create a flash-card to learn new idioms, expressions, phrases: Instructions are in the section “Flashcard Booklet” (Memorizing vocabulary at random) (Pisces) in the file “Ws 2 Tools 工具 教你如何做每周的作业”

“Flashcard Booklet” (Memorizing vocabulary at random) (Pisces)

  • phrases, short sentences, sections of sentence are ALWAYS better than single words
  • flip page flash cards are OK
  • multiple phrases/sentences on one one side of a large page, Chinese on the other side are also OK
  • Just remember: 1) never put Chinese and English on same side 2) English phrases/sentences should not be in the same order as Chinese translation

  •  Everybody: Make a Flashcard Booklet (Laoshi Style). On the even pages, write Chinese translations of new English vocabulary (You can put the Chinese in order, or at random). On the odd pages, write these new English vocabulary at RANDOM (Cannot write them in order at all!)

  •   How? Open the file “Ws2 Flashcard Booklet Example NN”, follow this example, and use only pen and paper (not computer), create a page (or several pages) like this.

  •  I ask you to show me this booklet ONLY during Ws8, Ws9 and Ws10 in class! If you missed Ws8, then you will not get “Reward Point for Flashcard Booklet”.

  •  Write your name and class name on the last page.

“New English vocabulary/usages” on this Flashcard Booklet must come from: 1) My class 2) Movies 3) National Geographic, wikipedia or magazines 4) Diary 5) textbook 4) Andy Krieger File

New English vocabulary in this booklet in the form of “usages/phrases”, are always better than in the form of “single words”.

  •  No matter they are in “usage/phrases” form or “single words”, as long as you have 70 English words in this booklet, you will get 1 Reward Point when I evaluate it. 140 words: 2 Reward Point. 350 words, 5 Reward Point. 600 words, still 5 Reward Point (5 is the maximum).

  •  Remember: Flashcard (random) is better than “wordlists” (in order), because this way, you brain will not fall asleep. AND, usages/phrases are better than single words, because usages/phrases are the vehicle for grammar. You should learn grammar not by learning how to describe it, but by learning how to reproduce usages/phrases that you are exposed to, spoken by native speakers.

  •  Please remember to write down usages/phrases/idioms that you can find anywhere, including many idioms you can find on the handout "Ws2 Andy Krieger B".

按老师的方法制作 Flash Card:语句记忆卡,将记忆到的语句用在每周表演中.

首先请下载文件“Ws 2 Flashcard Booklet Example NN”,看看老师是怎么做的。

§ The best thing to memorize and recite out loud, are -idioms, -short phrases, -short sentences, -usages, -lyrics/speeches/quotes/poems because they are vehicles of usage and grammatical conventions.

§ 学生最需要记忆并大声背诵出来的, 是-成语,-短语,-短句,-惯用语,-歌词/演讲/语录/诗歌 (五短) 因为这“五短”是语法及约定俗成的遣词法的载体。

§

§ The five types of short strings of words should be collected through magazine or encyclopedia reading, through videos and through diary writing with the help of dictionary tools. They should be written down on flashcards, not "word lists".

from now on till _______, i hope each classmate can write more than 200 phrases or sentences averaging 5 words each phrase on her flashcard.

从今天起,我希望每个同学能在自己的flashcard上记载二百个词组或短句,平均每个词组含五个单词。

but, flashcard is not the same as wordlists. im afraid if any student doesnt know how to make flashcard properly, the result would lead to a wrong study method. so, i wish the monitor can tell all classmates, how to make a proper flashcard.

但是,flashcard和单词记忆列表是完全不同的两样东西。我怕如果同学们不懂得fladhcard的正确制作方式,结果就是错误的记忆方法。因此希望班长公告全班,fladhcard的正确制作方法。

phrases on flashcards should come from National Geographic and Wikipedia

My advice: baidu search 'philosophy quotes, famous quotes ' first. Read these quotes. Copy them down on paper. Try to write your ideas in the style of these quotes. write about philosophy. read philosophic quotes.

14. N) Learning, singing, reciting English lyrics and poems.Edit

14. N) Learning, singing, reciting English lyrics and poems, especially when you can compare them to their Chinese translations, is an excellent way of learning vocabulary and expressions.

对照着中译版地学唱,背英语歌词,诗歌,是极好的英语学习方法。

Laoshi has created a website that contains great English song lyrics and their Chinese translations. You will learn these English songs word by word, and learn how to sing them. You are even required to select two or three Class Songs and we will have to sing these songs together this semester.   网址:  http://url.cn/Lhbbfp

老师制作了一个网站。上面有很好的英语歌词以及它们的中译。你们经常上这个网站,一字一句地学唱上面的英文歌。我要求你们选择两三首“班歌”。我们要一起在课堂上唱。

I want to decide upon a "Class Song". Ideally, a "class song" should be one of the most popular CHINESE song. May I get suggestions from all classmates? Please feel free to contribute.

Visit the website http://laoshi.wikia.com/wiki/EnglishChineseSong 并下载 Youtube Download Sept 14.zip .

征求意见:我希望全班同学提议一下,选两首“班歌”。最理想的“班歌”最好是中国红的神曲,但用英语唱。 例:“我的歌声里”, “海阔天空”,王菲“传奇”英文版, 或由“好声音”等出名的歌。大家上Q群谈,选。 我找了它们的英文版歌词。 唱,加分。

Classmates: Please choose your favorite Chinese song, and find their English lyrics on the internet, or write English lyrics for them! If you can write, find, AND sing for us a Chinese song with English lyrics, I will give you 5 points!

Please email the lyrics of your favorite songs to your own email inbox. When we sing, just access it from your phone.

Email 你心爱的歌词到你的邮箱。 全班唱的时候,打开邮箱看歌词。

Oral English Class Manifesto 口语课宣誓

----------------------------

  •  My English is good

  •  I should never say "my English is not good enough"

  •  I should always say "my English could be better"

  •  I should always show my English.

  •  I should never hide my English.

  •  If I show others my English, I will improve my English.

  •  I learned the "Rules of English" in the past 10 years during primary school and high school. But I will also learn the "English as a living language" in Oral English class.

  •  "Life of English" is more important than "Rules of English". Don't worry about rules. I want to LIFE to my English, so that it becomes a LIVING LANGUAGE.

  1.  When I want to say "I don't know" in my class, I should stop.

Instead, I should say: "Help me classmates! Help me!"

  1.  When I want to say "My English is poor",  you should stop. Instead, I should say: "My English could be better. I love improving my English! I love my English!"

后记:我的英语课的特点 *My Oral English Class is rather simple:

  • 我的口语课原则其实很简单
  • 1) Students should write at least one short English diary every week. Diary entries are counted using "participation points", as soon as they are shared with the teacher and other students.
  • 一,学生至少每周应写一篇短英语日记。只要学生一与其他学生及老师分享每周写的日记,就被算作“参与分”。
  • Diary topics should ideally be thoughts that you suddenly have inspiration for, or daily events and conversations you would like to express in English. Suggestions for diary topics are collected into a file called "Diary".
  • 日记内容理想来说应该是你日常突然得到灵感的有思想性的东西,或你希望能够用英语表达或描述的日常事件或会话意思。提议写什么日记内容的各个点子,都被收集入一个叫做“英语日记”的文件里。
  • 2)Students should expose themselves to short English articles on magazines (National Geographic) or encyclopedias (Wikipedia) by writing these short paragraphs down onto the "diary notebook". When shared, counted as "participation points".
  • 学生应当通过搜集 杂志上(国家地理)或百科上(维基)短小的,最好是带图的 英语文段 来增加自己的语感和理解能力。 每段文段写在“日记本”里,与老师分享就被算作“参与分”。
  • 3)Students should expose themselves to more standard English pronunciation by watching English videos (movies, TV series, news) every week. Watch them to satisfy your entertainment needs. Do not try to understand more than your capacity can understand. But, watch them in order to master the "feel" of standard English pronunciations (North American, British, Australian).
  • 学生应当每周持之以恒地看适量的英语视频(电影,电视,新闻)。 本着满足你们娱乐,信息需要的心态去看它们。但是不要指望理解大大超越你们理解能力的词句量。 只是本着慢慢适应语感,模仿比较正宗的口音(美,英,澳)的目的去多看。 即使听不懂也多看。听不懂也当听音乐一样听。
  • 4)When -writing diary, -reading encyclopedia or magazine, -translating between English and mother tongue, please try to use tools such as - bilingual translators, - dictionary.com and thesaurus.com, - wikipedia, - seach engines like google, baidu, bing
  • 当你-写日记,-阅读百科或杂志,-在英语与母语间互译 等的时候,学会大量使用以下工具: -双语互译工具(bing translator), -dictionary.com 和 thesaurus.com 网上英语解释的字典 及 近义词反义词辞典, -维基百科, -搜索引擎如谷歌
  • 5)The best thing to memorize and recite out loud, are -idioms, -short phrases, -short sentences, -usages, -lyrics/speeches/quotes/poems because they are vehicles of usage and grammatical conventions.
  • 学生最需要记忆并大声背诵出来的, 是-成语,-短语,-短句,-惯用语,-歌词/演讲/语录/诗歌 (五短) 因为这“五短”是语法及约定俗成的遣词法的载体。
  • The five types of short strings of words should be collected through magazine or encyclopedia reading, through videos and through diary writing with the help of dictionary tools. They should be written down on flashcards, not "word lists".
  • 以上“五短”应当从杂志及百科的阅读中取得,从视频观看中取得,从日记写作中通过字典等工具取得。 “五短”应该被记录在 -乱序 和 -隐去母语 的 “闪卡”中,而不是记录在 -顺序 及 -有母语一一对应 的 “词列”中。
  • 6) Encyclopedic "trivia" should be learned through browsing online encyclopedia (Wikipedia) or through search engines (Google). Online info research is an important foundational skill. Awareness of basic knowledges like names of countries, food items, math functions is very important for you to become conversant in English.
  • 百科“常识”应该从浏览百科(维基)及搜索引擎(谷歌)中取得。网上搜索信息是个重要基础技能。对这些百科常识的意识,比如说国名,食物名,数学符号名,是你英语具备会话能力的一个基本元素。
  • 7) Create your own conversational environment. (Best): Short questions and answers, speed dating format; (Next): Role-playing skits; (Last): Talk show.
  • 自己营造会话环境,从最有效开始排列: (最有效):以“快速相亲”为模式的两三人的简短速问速答; (其次):角色扮演几个人自己创作的小情景剧; (最后): 把一个“演讲”用“脱口秀”的自然形式演绎出来。

American DiaryEdit

“美国日记”:

什么算是你的“美国日记”?

可以抄:

  • 从“国家地理杂志”,“维基百科插图部分”,“Smithsonian 杂志插图部分”抄来的插图讲解(30-50个英文词,不要超过这个长度),算是英语日记。

  • “英语某个单词的词源”,从dictionary.com,wiktionary等有词源的网上字典抄下来的,算是英语日记。

  • urbandictionary.com 等俚语网站抄的某俚语词使用例子,算是英语日记。

Explain the following terms" (p182), "Topics for discussion"(p227), "Answer the following questions..."(p242), "Oral Practice" (p281), "Summarize the main ideas" (p295)

  • 还有,老师自己每周给你出的,类似课本这些页上的简答题,也算英语日记。

注意:

开始写英语日记,不要不用工具,白手就写。必须先依靠 bing翻译,google翻译,dictionary.com, thesaurus.com, wiktionary.com 这几个网站的帮忙,才能顺利写得出能表达自己复杂意思的词语。 先用工具帮,以后才逐步慢慢离开工具。

固有“日记可选素材”全部能够在“老师维基:American Resources 专页”中“Diary 标题”一栏下找到。而每周新加的“新日记可选题、特殊日记题”则会不断在“集中发指示”中,不定时地在Q群、微信群中发出。任何固有日记题或新增日记可选题,只要是你未写过的,就应该可以永久可用。

Creative Journal WritingEdit

How to get Participation Dollars? The easiest way is: Creative Journal Writing

  •  "Dear Diary..." (Please keep this handout until end of semester, or forever)

  •  "What did you write in your English Diary last week?"

  •  Write your English Diary every week. If you don't want to write it every week, try writing it EVERY DAY. Spend 15 minutes on it.

  •  Write it in a note book.

  •  You share your diary in every class. And you get 1-Participation Dollars for each share. The more Participation Dollars you get, the higher your Final Scores by the end of the term.

Creative Writing Journal topics

Below are a dozen topics to jump-start a creative writing journal entry.

1 Describe in detail the season. What do you observe? What makes it different from any other time of year?

2 Write down an emotion--then write about the last time you felt that emotion.

3 Choose a general trait such as honesty, loyalty, and write about a person who possess that trait and the choices they would make in a fictional situation such as a hurricane or other natural disaster.

4 Turn on the television and describe in detail the first three characters you see, whether they are in a sit-com or newscasters.

5 Imagine and describe your dream home. What is the style? The setting?

6 Find a picture of an interesting person in a magazine and, based on their expression, write a paragraph imagining what that person is thinking or feeling.

7 Choose a color. What emotion does it make you feel? Write a paragraph about that emotion.

8 If you had a million dollars, what would you do with it? Would it make you happier?

9 Describe the perfect pet--a cat, dog, or other animal. Describe its antics in detail.

10  Imagine winning a trip to a tropical paradise.

11 Describe it. If given the option would you stay there forever or come home? Explain your choice.

Write about a hero or person you admire. What qualities do they have?

12 Think about a person you don’t admire very much.  Contrast their qualities to the person you admire.

  1. 11 and 12 are good exercises for developing hero and villain

THE FOLLOWING ENGLISH DIARY TOPICS ARE CALLED THE "YUANFANG DIARY". You are welcome to write diary entries about Yuanfang Diary. These topics are even more interesting than the “13 Topics”:

14* People compare teachers to candles or gardeners. Yuanfang: What do you think? Are teachers candles, or gardeners?

15* Many people know how to attain success but few know how to make the best of it when it comes. So, how do you define success and how would you make the best of it?

16* Some people say the real enemy of life is ourselves. Yuanfang, what do you think?

17* Do you think it's proper to give up if it just seems too hard?

18* Now in the age of the internet, reading books doesn't seem as important as it once was. Do you think people can learn as much on the internet as they can by reading books? Which method do you prefer?

19* Everybody wants dreams come true. Can you tell us how you understand the meaning of the phrase "dream come true"?

20* What is more important in your career: to make money or to be satisfied with your work?

21* Who should be mostly blamed for difficulties in job hunting for college students?

22* What do you think is more important for a child? Happy childhood or top marks at school?

23* What do you do or how do you cope or deal with the pressures of your campus life? Examples?

24* Which is more important? Knowledge from books or personal experience?

25* What would your major consideration be in choosing a job and why?

26* Should it be left to university students to balance their private lives and their studies?

27* What should you do if your parents or friends misunderstand you?

28* Who should take responsibility for the poor diet of children, fast-food restaurants or parents?

29* What is your motto and why?

30* Why do more and more people move to big cities?

31* Environmental protection is not just a governmental issue. What can you do as an individual?

32* Can you tell us, in your opinion, what makes life worthwhile? Disagree with each other!

33* If you could be an animal, what would you choose and why?

34* If you could live in a different time and place, what time and place would you choose?

35* If your idol was here today, what would you say to him or her?

36* Which foreign film do you like best? Please give me your reason.

37* One day, you receive a call from someone that calls from five years later---act out that conversation!

38* Who do you most admire? What is the one thing he or she said that has the most influence on you?

39* Imagine a fictional tribal ethnic group: How would you write about its customs, culture, myths and oral traditions?

40* Tell a story titled "How my Cosmo (Little Universe) exploded", or "I am the Angry Bird".

41* Sometimes, you need to “lose” a “game” and “surrender” to the “winner”, in order to truly win something. For example, you need to “lose and surrender” to your teacher, in order to truly gain from your teacher’s teachings. And if you “win” in this game, you may end up being the biggest loser in the end. What do you think? Is it true?

42* Special Diary Topic: Word Origins : Please find on the website http://dictionary.reference.com/wordoftheday/archive  , 5 examples of a word's "Origins". One example should have a word of Greek origin. One example should have a word of Latin origin. One example should have a word of Anglo-Saxon origin. And the two other examples should have words of origins that are not Greek, Latin or Anglo-Saxon.

(十一月八日)美国脱口秀各题目参考资料: 维基百科篇Edit
